Materials engineering in aerospace industry [Solved]
You can ask any question (Industry, Lessons, Analysis etc..) to aerospace engineers.
Materials engineer play an important role in aerospace industry. You can have several positions to apply for:
-Research and Development departments are open to you for further improvements on materials. (Titanium, aluminum and composites are common materials) You can work as a research/material engineer. For this position, I would suggest you to work on finite element methods as well. (may be useful for you) And you will need to know about structural analysis methods.
-You can work in aerospace research labs. That’s a common way indeed. You work and have your Phd degree at the same time.
-It is possible to become a stress engineer. If you know enough finite elements methods and structural analysis, you can become a stress engineer.
-Also you can work in airliners as a materials engineer. You will be doing repairs and maintenance on the aircraft. (You may need to know about crack mechanics and so on..)
If you need further help about choosing your projects during your degree, please let us know to help you.
